A Toronto Renovation Company Focused on Homes
Since 2008, Acon Renovations has handled home renovations across Toronto, from a single bathroom to an entire house. Residential renovation is our focus, so our process is built around homeowners. You may be living in the house during the work, you have a budget to respect, and you want straight answers.
Toronto homes come with their own challenges, from century-old walls and wiring to low basement ceilings and narrow staircases. We plan for these before construction starts, so there are fewer surprises once it does.
Acon is run by its owners, Paul and Mike, who stay involved in every project.

Homes We Renovate in Toronto and the GTA
We renovate detached and semi-detached houses, townhouses and condos. We work mainly in Toronto, including Etobicoke, North York and York, and also take on projects in Mississauga, Oakville and Burlington.
What Affects the Cost of Your Renovation
Every renovation is priced on its own scope, so we don’t publish fixed rates. These are the factors that affect the price most:
- Scope and size. How many rooms are involved and how much changes in each one.
- Layout changes. Moving walls, plumbing or a kitchen layout costs more than working with what’s already there.
- The condition of your home. Older houses can hide problems, such as outdated wiring or plumbing, that only show up once walls are opened.
- Materials and finishes. Cabinets, countertops, tile and fixtures vary widely in price.
- Permits and drawings. Structural changes may need engineering drawings and a building permit.
- Condo requirements. Building rules can limit working hours and deliveries, which affects scheduling.
The most reliable number is an estimate based on your home. After a site visit, we’ll give you a written estimate that sets out the scope of work.
Home Renovation FAQ
We specialize in residential renovations, including kitchen renovations, bathroom renovations, basement renovations and whole-house renovations. Many projects combine more than one, such as a new kitchen with new flooring across the main floor.
Call us at 647-291-4696 or send the estimate form on our Contact page. We’ll ask a few questions about your project, arrange a visit to your home and then prepare a written estimate. Estimates are free.
It depends on the scope of your project. The biggest cost factors are the size of the space, whether the layout changes, the condition of your home behind the walls, the materials and finishes you choose, and whether permits or engineering drawings are needed. Working with the existing layout costs less than moving walls, plumbing or a kitchen.
Once the scope is agreed, your price is fixed. If you decide to change something during the project, we agree the change and its cost with you in writing before we do the work, so there are no surprises on the final bill.
It depends on the size of the project. A renovation typically involves two main stages: planning and material ordering, followed by construction and finishing work on site. A single room, such as a bathroom or a kitchen refresh, takes weeks, while larger and whole-house projects take longer. Custom cabinets, special-order materials, permits and condo approvals add the most time.
We give you a schedule with your estimate and let you know quickly if anything changes it.
It depends on the scope of work. In Toronto, installing cabinets or replacing existing plumbing fixtures usually doesn’t require a building permit. However, structural or material alterations, such as adding or removing walls that change room sizes or uses, installing or modifying plumbing or heating systems, and certain basement renovations may require a permit.
We’ll help identify which permits may apply to your project. You can also check the City of Toronto’s building permit requirements.
Usually, yes, depending on which rooms are involved. During a kitchen renovation, most homeowners stay at home and set up a temporary kitchen with a fridge, microwave and kettle elsewhere in the house. For a whole-house renovation, moving out for part or all of the project may be more practical, depending on the scope of work. We’ll talk through what makes sense for your project during the consultation.
We seal off the work area from the rest of your home and clean up as we go, so dust stays where the work is happening. We agree working hours with you before we start and keep you updated as the project moves along. For condo projects, we follow your building’s rules for working hours, elevators and deliveries.
